Iant Iaur and the Castle Grounds

As you leave Amon Nazgul behind you, the river Brandywine comes into view. On your left and right are a number of hobbit dwellings, which are ideally situated to take advantage of the superb view along the riverbanks.
As you come over a low hill, you are treated to the wondrous sight of Iant Iaur; this spectacular example of Surreal Architecture is the only Suspension of Disbelief Bridge east of Tirion. We cannot emphasize strongly enough how important it is that you suspend your disbelief when crossing the bridge. Were you to disbelieve the possibility of the magnificently carved stone dragon that towers over the bridge balancing delicately on its wing tips like that, you would quite suddenly be not only right, but also two-dimensional1.
In an underwater grotto beneath Iant Iaur, Brother Sha dwells. He would like to point out to travellers that people crossing the bridge are advised to drop some rice over the sides every once in a while. Don't worry if you see a warg wandering near the bridge; it's just Fluffy, Brother Sha's pet.

Beyond Iant Iaur lies Balrog Cuttings.
Following the road once more, you enter the ancient Castle grounds, which are filled with a number of colourful tents2, as well as some public buildings. Just to your right is the Balrog Cuttings municipal swimming pool and sports centre, where you can always go for some refreshing exercise - please note that on Dragon days the pool is filled with either molten lava or pancake batter3.

Still on the right, from here you can also just see a tall pole, which used to be the Mooring Pole for Matt's Flying Castle.

A bit further on, the road forks to the right. We will not go towards Castle Hill now, but continue straight on. On our left we pass the Talleyrand Memorial Library, which is the Balrog Cuttings public library and Mathom House; next to it stands a smaller building - the Translators Guild House (abandoned).
Just behind the Library you can see the Balrog Cuttings Temple4.

Much more interesting is the sign that points out that it is now only 300 metres to the spiritual heart of Balrog Cuttings, the White Horse of Rohan....

1 The initial idea for the Suspension of Disbelief bridge was based on the passage from the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy in which the trick to flying is explained....- back -
2 The editors of this Guide have been asked to point out that the faded and frayed turquoise tent next to the stream used to be the dwelling of Öjevind, Lord Protector of the Lossoth and Master of the Mysterious Island of Bornholm. It has long since been abandoned though, and now only the unquiet undeead go there. - back -
3 Don't ask... for Dragons are touchy about their shall we say 'different' habits, and you are crunchy and go well with Brie.- back -
4 Worship in Balrog Cuttings is not only optional, but also wildly changeable. The only constants are the Church of the [Censored] Balrog, and the worship of Tyope, the Muse of TEUNC.- back -
